About Me

miko-coffey.jpg

At the time of writing, I am the only person in the world with the name Miko Coffey, so if you find yourself on this page trying to figure out if the Miko Coffey you know is the one who runs this website, I can pretty much guarantee she is. I am. Or whatever - hello! I was born in Texas to Japanese and American parents, and I now live in London married to a lovely British man with a Dutch name. That makes me a veritable melting pot, bubbling away with various cultural artefacts like the sudden urge to use the word y'all, cravings for foods called Milky and Pocky, and indecision about whether to spell it color or colour.

I consider myself to be a 'maker of things' - whether they are real things, like photographs, knitted scarves, tables, etc; or virtual things, like DJ mixes or web sites. I look for beauty in life and work, and get great pleasure from creating something from nothing. This website is a place to record some of the things that I make.

I am a serial learner and love to sink my teeth into learning just about anything. I particularly like the rush of figuring things out for myself, and have taught myself how to do everything from plumbing a kitchen, to making marmalade, to using CSS & Javascript (and lots in between).

I am one of those people who has an equally strong right and left brain. I scored exactly the same in Math/Reading on my SATs, studied Fine Art & Mathematics at uni, and I even write with my right hand but play sports & ukulele with my left. Apparently that means I have a big corpus callosum.

By day, I work as a freelance web consultant - so if you are in need of a kick-ass website, by all means get in touch! You can find my work-related self here. By night, I spend far too much time with yarn, when I'm not whipping up something in the kitchen or just hanging out with my amazing cats and fantabulous hubby Mach V.

But enough about me; the best way to get to know me is to have a read and maybe even get in touch.

*Those of you from my distant Texan past might know me as Tiffanie Coffey... that's a name I haven't heard in a very long time (as Obi Wan would say!)
