About

Miko Coffey BFA FRSA

I am a London-based photographer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) in Photography. Having exhibited fine art photography at gallery spaces in the UK and USA since 1996, I now also specialise in portraiture and other commerical work, including model portfolios, personal and corporate portraits, and photographing events such as live music and weddings.

Recent achievements include placing as a Runner-Up in the Photographer of the Year 2009 competition run by Practical Photography Magazine, the UK’s longest running and best-selling photography magazine. You can see my (nearly) winning photograph on Page 95 of the June 2009 edition, or in my Arts & Events gallery.

Other work includes photography featuring in the 2009 Cool Camping Guide to Festivals, photographing the Festinho Music Festival, a 3-day charity event for the Action for Brazil’s Children Trust, and collaboration with invisibility.org.uk on an audio-visual art installation which exhibited at the Shunt Vaults.

I have also published a coffee table book of my photographs taken in Japan, called Rising Sun. It is available for purchase here, and contains over 120 images of rural and urban Japan, as seen during my travels and visits with family.

Originally from Texas, born to Japanese and American parents, I have lived in South London for the last 12 years, and am happily married with a cat named Dierdre. When I am not taking photos, I also work as a web consultant and I enjoy knitting, crocheting and cooking in my free time.

If you’d like to discuss my work and how I can work with you, please get in touch.

I am also available for indivudal and group tuition in digital photography and post-processing in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Contact me for details.
