I used Rowan Big Wool ( http://www.knitrowan.com/yarns/big-wool.aspx ) and my crochet hook was a 12mm one I think... it's been a while now... Anyway, I felted it in the washing machine, placing the item in a pillowcase before putting it on a hot cycle. When it came out of the washing machine, I reshaped it by hand and stuffed the bowl with newspaper so it kept its shape while it dried. I left it on a towel in a warm spot next under the radiator until it dried. Hope that helps!

Love it. Can you give some more details like the size of the needles and yarn you used, and also how did you felt it? put it in the washer and dryer? I tried felting a crocheted bowl before I found yu post but it didnt come out.
Thanks.
